Universal Horror Review
The 1998 TV movie documentary Universal Horror examines the early days of horror films at Universal Studios. Narrated by Kenneth Branagh, it focuses on horror films made during the 1930s and 1940s. Included is discussion of early films which influenced those films. The history of the studio is included.

The documentary is rich with film clips. Unlike some such programs in which the clips are very poor quality, most of these clips look absolutely fantastic.

A number of people who appeared in such films are interviewed, including Gloria Stuart and Fay Wray.

Forrest J. Ackerman is featured with a mention of his publication Famous Monsters of Filmland and a brief look at his Ackermansion collection.

Author Ray Bradbury and others discuss how horror films influenced and affected them. Bradbury and others remember being so frightened by movies and even by previews that they hid under the seats.

This is a great look at a certain film genre, entertaining and informative. I highly recommend it.
