Today is the 102nd anniversary of the birth of my favorite writer, Ray Bradbury, born on August 22, 1920. Happy birthday, Ray! Your wonderful work guarantees that you will, as Mr. Electrico predicted, live forever!

RichardHappy 75th birthday to the fine actor (and Chicago Cubs fan

) Joe Mantegna, who starred in what is arguably the finest film ever made of any of Ray Bradbury's work, THE WONDERFUL ICE CREAM SUIT!

RichardHappy 73rd birthday to British actor William Nighy, who was born on December 12, 1949. Mr. Nighy played the character "Edmond Brundish" in the 2017 film THE BOOKSHOP. In that film, which was set in the 1950's, Mr. Nighy's character repeatedly asked the owner of the newly opened local bookstore to be supplied with the latest books by some young writer named Ray Bradbury. A great performance in a fine film!

RichardHappy 96th birthday to the beautiful Barbara Rush, who starred in IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, for which Ray Bradbury wrote the screen treatment (actually, almost an entire script). While I included a link to the interview below last year on Ms. Rush's birthday, I will add it again this year for any newcomers to the Board, since Ms. Rush discusses Ray's film and her thoughts about Ray himself:

His classic song "Nature Boy" is so reminiscent of Mr. Bradbury's life, imagination, writings, and influences on generations of readers.
Thank you, Mr. Cole and Mr/ Bradbury

Richardfjp451, Nat King Cole is one of my favorite singers, as well as a great jazz pianist. He died much too young. Thanks for posting!

fjp451Richard, when the two boys were growing up, we listened to Mr. Coles' music often, as well as other artists of his era. "Unforgettable" was always a favorite. It says it all of those who are dear to us, who have helped us along the way, and who have stayed important even when many miles have come between us.
Natalie's rendition of this great song and the images of her Dad with her as a child growing up are truly....Unforgettable!
