Braling IIRuled Paper - A Miscellany of Topics
Dandy,
Two patron saints of music I can think of are St. Cecilia (Nov. 22) and St. Romanos the Melodist (Oct. 1). I just found a big list of folks born on 22 March...

Chapter 31Could it be the name of the month itself that’s caused some sort of ripple in the cosmos? March fourth--excuse me--forth then with the new list.

Braling IIUh, Chap.
Department of etymological correction here.
The ides is the 15th day of March, May, July, or October; or the 13th day of the other months.
(In the old Roman Calendar, that is.)
So, what were we about again here?

Chapter 31If you’re referring to my March 07 posting, I asked about “The Ides of March minus one…” or 315 – 1 = 314.
Or if you’re referring to the March 08 posting, I was just being cute with fourth and forth.
Or I’ve committed my usual type of clumsy error and am not aware of it.
In any case, I’m still overwhelmed with your knowledge of March 14th.

Braling IIChap, My data shows George Frederick Handel
(auf Deutsch "Georg Friedrich Händel") being born February 23, 1685, the same year as Johann Sebastian Bach.
Wer weiß?

Chapter 31Of course, you are absolutely right. I do apologize for the bad info. I should slow down when doing research about things I know little about.

Braling IIHey, what I don't know could fill a large library, but we learn, we learn...

Depth PerceptionIn response to the original thoughts of page one:
It's so intriguing to see the "great ones" (as I have deemed you in my mind) speak out together, not just as fans of Ray Bradbury, as we all are (or should be), but as individuals in a like-minded community. It's my probably unwanted and seemingly useless opinion that you guys have been here so long, talking about everything and becoming aquaintances, if not friends. Some human interaction is to be called for among the great philosophical and metaphorical expostulations. I was relieved to see that you guys did talk to each other on this post, and I hope it will be welcomed amidst the fascinating discussions that already exist. Is this wrong?
and more recently (pg 11):
do you actually speak some German, Braling II?
The facts speak for themselves.

Braling IIDP,
I know a very little of probably close to 2 dozen languages; fluent in none except English, though I could probably get by in Spanish. I toured Germany with a choir a couple of summers ago and picked up a little German.
It also helps if you're singing German, Latin, or Italian to know what you're singing.
We even had to memorize Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" which is in Hebrew!
Plus, my wife's Mancunian, and Philnic can tell you about Northern English accents!
As to your comment about acquaintances/friends, I feel that sometimes there are bonds arising out of a shared love of something or someone that are ineffable, but just as real as other kinds of loves. Ever read "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis?
Anyway, Welcome aboard!

dandelionNo, we're not going to meet in person. We just float around as intelligent balls of light.

biplane1Yes, I'm floating, I'm floating.

Braling IIFire balloons?
Oh, and, nurse, just look in on Biplane, will you?

Translator23 years of bloodshed. Things are not looking any better, Mr.Dark, and if anything, they look much worse. Feel a bit silly now defending Bush and the war? Where's the grand strategy, the welcoming of American troops, the democracy that was promised? Where are the WMD's? Where's the connection between 9/11 and Iraq? Instead, you've got a civil war which could very well spill into Iran and other nearby countries, and if it does, than you can say bye bye to Israel or Oil from the middle east. Please admit now, if not publicly than at least privately, that you were sorely mistaken in your views.
Cheers

Braling IIAnd now, class, please open your dictionaries and turn to "non sequitur"...

fjp451Hey, Sundance...How about a nice hot cup of espresso!?
You, by the way, are an aficiando and a specialist. A quick draw artist, a slight of word expert. The juggle amongst us (fish bowls, chain saws, and (amazing!) that bright blue handkerchief floating on the air, while water splashes and the brrrrrrrr of the slicing links spin unseen.
So, keep your ear to those safe tumblers. When did you meet Mr. B, by the by?
