The Lifework of Juan Diaz
Since I had been unware until about a week ago of this recording, I thought I would mention that there is an opera based on Ray's short story, "The Lifework of Juan Diaz." It was composed by Lawrence Rapchak, and is available on CD, performed by Chamber Opera Chicago with Rapchak conducting. You can find copies for sale on Amazon.com.

The following link will take you to "The Life Work of Juan Diaz", an excellent episode of THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR. The script was written by Ray Bradbury himself, based on his short story, and stars Alejandro Rey, Frank Silvera and Pina Pellicer. It was directed by the great Norman Lloyd, and features a superb score by Bernard Herrmann:

As a follow-up to my rather ancient (2005!) posting about the opera version of THE LIFE WORK OF JUAN DIAZ, the links below will take you to a couple of Chicago Tribune articles about the opera. The first, from 1990, discusses the opera itself, prior to its Chicago premiere, and notes how Ray Bradbury himself was excited about the project. The second article, from 1993, reviews its release on compact disc.
