reply to: I dont think that i would recommend this book to others unless you like books that are confusing. This is one of the most confusing stories I've ever read.

Its not confusing at all if you pay attention to details and think about what je says. I'm guessing it was jsuyt confusing to you because you skimmed over some parts or didnt pay attention to some of the really important details that are hidden int here.

I consider Fahrenheit 451 an excellent book and an interesting portrayal of a possible future. The thing is though, censorship wont even be necessary. Barely anyone reads anything worthwhile anymore, why do that when theres television to feed you? Id much rather hav the future be like this book where there is still pockets of resistance and the reason for the burning was the government, instead well end up jsut not caring about books at all and theyll all be willingly gotten rid of or lost in the basement. Society gets rid of the need for censorship by not bothering to read at all, why censor when you have people willing to follow the media? maybe some censorshi would wake people up to what their missing out on

Its all the funnier because your name is blondie, but yeah you are stupid if you thought it was confusing

Great marketing tactic. Make people think someone wants to keep something from them and they'll beat a path to get to it to see what it's about!

I've been finding this thread pretty interesting, not because of any great insights on F451, but because of some insights on the posters here.

Seven pages from 2004, then a seven year break.
It's very obvious that this was a high school project for at least a couple of schools, and that many of the replies here came from those who would not have chosen this book to read.
At the end of the 2004 entries Mycroft insults a couple of the posters who were critical. Lets be generous and assume he was unaware that Blondie15 gave away her (and their) age (Blondie22 now), and that reading and analysing was a chore, not a pleasure choice!

Interesting the variety of responses, saying so much more about themselves than F451. Lets be positive - there's some pretty bright kids out there, but for others it was just beyond their grasp. Oh well, somebody has to sweep the streets!

I can hear it sniffing at the door right now. Quick, hide those books!

This is my favorite book of Bradbury. Not only because I love distopian novels, but also because of the language he used, the whole spectrum of human emotions in it and unforgetible ideas that he came up with.
By the way, film adaptation of 1966 sucks.
