Who Influenced Ray Bradbury?
hi, i have a research paper due on Monday about Ray Bradbury. I thought I had all the information I needed but it turns out that I need to know who influenced Ray Bradbury and what are some major themes in his novel. I keep doing search after search on the internet for his influences but I cant find any. Can anyone help me with either his influences or themes?...thank you if you can help me!

Well, you came to the right place for your answer...To find it, all you have to do is read the "In His Words" essay Ray wrote for this very website!

In addition to those he lists there, he's also said other places that he loves and learned from Hawthorne, Poe, Melville, and Shaw, to name but a very few.

Hope this helps!

Oh, and as for themes...It depends on which book you're doing the report on, although several themes are used repeatedly. You might want to do a search on "Yahoo.com" for "Ray Bradbury interview." This will turn up a couple of dozen interviews (at least) with Ray that have been conducted and published in the last fifteen years or so. He often answers questions about theme in them.

Hope this helps,
Greg
