My best friend and I are planning to make a trip to Salem, MA for October of 2009, not for a "Haunted Halloween in Salem", but to commemorate the Homecoming. In From the Dust Returned, he mentions that that's when the next one is supposed to be, so that's when and why we're going. Even if no one else is there for that reason, we will be.
