Ray saw this book, for the first time, just last night when a patron brought a copy to the theatre to be signed.

I'm torn. At first glance I'm very tempted to pick it up, but after scrutinizing the TOC closer I'm not as enthused.

I love the wide representation of authors, but I'm not sold on the story choices. "Bernice" for Poe seems an odd pick. And it would have been nice to see one of King's earlier shorts like "The Monkey".

It occurred to me that they might be trying to avoid the more familiar tales (I didn't immediately recognise the stories by Bierce, Poe, Bloch, Keller, Jackson. This may simply reflect my own ignorance, however.)

But then I see that Ellison is represented by "I Have No Mouth" - which is probably his most anthologised tale, and looks out of place with some of the others. ("Whimper of Whipped Dogs" or even "Pretty Maggie Moneyeyes" might have been a better fit.)
