I read some time ago on a message board that he a severe drinking problem and had been a confirmed alcoholic for years, and, of course, the 60s are the age when such behaviors often catch up. I certainly didn't expect it the next morning after thinking about it the night before, though!

Oh, now that IS sad! For everyone who has listened to music for the last 50 or 60 years, and particularly his poor brother with whom he composed so many triumphs. Condolences to all their near and dear.

Really, truly sad! I heard he was disliked both for his business practices and his art, but I loved his pictures and am sad he passed away so young.
