I was just looking at him on television last night. I was watching a panel of a film festival on 70 MM films in which he was taking part. The panel was on my favourite film, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and the segment was featured on Criterion's blu-ray edition of the film.

I may have killed him. I was just telling my friend that Doris Day had just turned 90 and if Mickey Rooney lived till September he would be 94. About an hour later went online and the news came up that he was dead.

I was unawares that you wielded such Billy Mumy powers. "You're a bad dandelion. You're a very bad dandelion!"

Funny you should mention The Twilight Zone. With Mickey Rooney's passing, there are now no episodes of the original series with all cast members still living.

Conventional wisdom has that they happen in threes, but oddly, there weren't two others, comparable, close to Mickey Rooney's passing.

In view of our recent "SF" debate, sad to hear of the loss of such an influential SF visionary as Artist H.R. Giger:

Startling images that still bring chills when recalling the original Alien creatures, settings, and backdrops Mr. Giger created:

Peace.

Such sad news, she was like Ray in the respect that she was so positive, always encouraging and optimistic. She was a powerful force for good in the world, and it is a poorer place without her ( Ray, too.)

2.

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there."

God love you, Mr B. I do.

"Somewhere a band is playing
Oh listen, oh listen that tune!
If you learn it you’ll dance on forever
In June and yet June and more June.
And Death will be dumb and not clever
And Death will lie silent forever
In June and June and more June."
