The play does not open until July 11th, but I was lucky enough to be allowed to attend a read-thru today. There will be three stories, The Meadow, A Device Out of Time and The Cistern. Today’s reading was of The Meadow. I had almost forgotten the poetry in Ray’s words from this story. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

Which is why I'm enjoying the theatre experience so much. It re-awakens things that I've taken for granted about Ray's works.

THE PLAY’S THE THING

RAY BRADBURY’S YESTERMORROWS

Opening July 11 in Pasadena

Ray Bradbury’s Yestermorrows is a collection of three favorite Bradbury tales adapted for the stage. The Meadow is presented for the first time. The elderly night watchman at a motion picture studio lot finds himself the protector of the entire world. The old man must summon all his wit and intelligence to dissuade those who would come to destroy it.

Cistern is the story of a young couple in love, who are, incidentally, undead and “live” in the cistern that runs underneath their city.

A Device Out of Time is a tale in which youngsters discover the secrets of time travel and, while they still can, visit the sights and sounds of decades past.

The cast of Ray Bradbury’s Yestermorrows includes David Fox-Brenton, Georgean George, Jay Gerber, Robert Kerr, David Mauer, Michael Prichard, Roses Prichard, Andy Sell and Steven Robert Wollenberg. Ray Bradbury and Racquel Lehrman, Theatre Planners, produce, Alan Neal Hubbs directs, lighting design by Peter Strauss and sound design by Robert Arturo Ramirez. Presented by Ray Bradbury’s Pandemonium Theatre Company, this is a guest production at the Fremont Centre Theatre.

Here is a link to ticket information for the play: https://www.plays411.net/newsi...nfo.asp?show_id=2026

The image at that site, also attached, is a close-up of the Father Electrico statue that is currently in the middle of the bronzing process.

Note that the name of the play is Yestermorrows, wtih an S, which I left out when I created this thread.

As in plays past and as a general rule, Mr. B attends on Saturday nights. (ComicCon weekend being the exception here) When he does attend there is a reception after the performance where one can have a few moments with the master and maybe get an odd item or two signed.

“Ray Bradbury’s Yestermorrows” is a collection of favorite tales from America’s Storyteller adapted for the stage. One of the stories is presented on stage for the very first time. Two others are stage classics.
The new story is “The Meadow.” The elderly night watchman at a motion picture studio lot finds himself with a great responsibility: He is the protector of the entire world. There are those who would come to destroy, and the old man must summon all his wit and intelligence to dissuade them from their grim task.
For classic chills on a warm summer night: “Cistern” is the story of a young couple in love. They’re undead and “live” in the cistern that runs underneath the city.
“A Device Out of Time” is a tale in which youngsters discover the secrets of time travel and, while they still can, visit the sights and sounds of decades past.
There’s lots of warmth and a few shivers in this evening of wonders presented by Ray Bradbury’s Pandemonium Theatre Company, helmed by resident director Alan Neal Hubbs, who has previously directed “The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit,” “Fahrenheit 451,” “Ray Bradbury’s Green Town,” and more at Fremont Centre Theatre.
The cast of “Ray Bradbury’s Yestermorrows” includes David Fox-Brenton, Georgan George, Jay Gerber, Robert Kerr, David Mauer, Michael Prichard, Roses Prichard, Andy Sell and Steven Robert Wollenberg.
Lighting design: Peter Strauss. Sound design: Robert Arturo Ramirez.
Ray Bradbury is one of America’s best-loved writers, including among his recent honors the National Medal of the Arts (U.S.A.), the medal of Commander of Arts and Letters (France), and a special award from the Pulitzer Prize committee citing his career achievements.

I was at the theatre this evening, to watch the dress rehearsals and the publicity photo shoot. Ray was pleased with what he saw. The sets are nicely done. It looks to be another great run.

Oh yes, the next time I attend I should make sure I put the charged battery in the camera. Sheeesh.

Saturday night the theatre is going to show the clip of Mr. B being introduced by Walter Cronkite as he is interviewed by Mike Wallace on July 20, 1969.
