Coming on May 12, 2023, from Rutgers University Press, is GEORGE'S RUN: A WRITER'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE TWILIGHT ZONE. The book is a "graphic biography" about George Clayon Johnson, Ray Bradbury friend; writer for THE TWILIGHT ZONE; co-author with William F. Nolan of LOGAN'S RUN; and co-author with Ray Bradbury of the screenplay for the Academy Award-nominated short subject ICARUS MONTGOLFIER WRIGHT. He was also a member of "The Group", that collection of California writers and friends who hung out together in the 1950's and 1960's, aiding and assisting each other in their work. The Group included Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Charles Beaumont, William F. Nolan, Chad Oliver and John Tomerlin as well as Johnson. For more information about the book, click on the link below:

The link below will take you to a brief film which includes scenes of George Clayton Johnson, Ray Bradbury, and Julie Schwartz at what I believe is the 54th World Science Fiction Convention, held in Anaheim, California in 1996. And if you stick around till the end, you'll see Mr. Johnson puffing away on some fine...um.... Cool

Our family travelled cross-country to be on hand to celebrated Mr. Bradbury's 89th birthday at the Mystery and Imagination Bookstore and later in the evening at the Fremont Theatre, where a few onstage performances of Mr. Bradbury's stories were enacted. At the M&I Bookstore, we had the privilege to visit with Mr. Bradbury and all of his kind friends who were gathered for his special day.

The photos in following link (enlarge for a more personal feel of the event) bring back memories of the amazing gathering which we attended. Bo Derek, William Nolan, John King Tarpinian, George Clayton Johnson, and so many others took time to visit with us when they realized what out journey had involved:

Richard: Mr. Johnson's concluding comments in reference to Mr. Bradbury's influence on his own career are quite revealing. During many years of my teaching experiences, Mr. B continued to respond to my students and our family. He was a truly generous artist, a caring individual, and man of tremendous vision.

"Thank you, Mr. Bradbury. Our thoughts have be especially with you in recent days. Our far northern lawns are now covered in brilliant yellow dandelions!"
