It's so intriguing to see the "great ones" (as I have deemed you in my mind) speak out together, not just as fans of Ray Bradbury, as we all are (or should be), but as individuals in a like-minded community. It's my probably unwanted and seemingly useless opinion that you guys have been here so long, talking about everything and becoming aquaintances, if not friends. Some human interaction is to be called for among the great philosophical and metaphorical expostulations. I know a very little of probably close to 2 dozen languages; fluent in none except English, though I could probably get by in Spanish. I toured Germany with a choir a couple of summers ago and picked up a little German.
It also helps if you're singing German, Latin, or Italian to know what you're singing.
We even had to memorize Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" which is in Hebrew!
Plus, my wife's Mancunian, and Philnic can tell you about Northern English accents!
As to your comment about acquaintances/friends, I feel that sometimes there are bonds arising out of a shared love of something or someone that are ineffable, but just as real as other kinds of loves. Ever read "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis?
