Mr. B is mentioned in today's Los Angeles Times' article about The Strand Magazine publishing a previously unknown short story by Mark Twain.

They must have the internet on the east coast...even in some of the less-favored neighborhoods.

He received a (subsequently self-destructed) message from Jim Phelps...

I spoke with Doug last evening on his trek across the continent. He was going to wrap up the day and hunker down in a motel and take off early this morning.

His arrival in Washington D. C. will be in a few days, not withstanding any flat tires. We all wish him a fast and safe journey.

I was the one on the phone with him when you first called and went to voicemail. Smiler

Doug still did not tell me which version of Route 66 he was listening to: Bobby Troup or Nat King Cole. Of course, he is going in the wrong direction.

But if he drives in reverse gear the whole way, maybe no one will notice.

Maybe the Rolling Stones.

Soon he’ll need to be listening to the theme music from Deliverence.
