Ruled Paper II- A Miscellany Of Topics.
CBS Sunday Morning had a nice piece on the person who sat-in for Ray at the last Ray Bradbury Creativity Award, Bo Derek. Bo gave the award to Kirk Douglas. Bo and Ray were life long friends, having met in France.

And here is what happens when you are nominated for a Hugo because you've written a song about Ray.

I'd like to offer members of the board in the Los Angeles area complimentary admission to my theatrical reading of "Ray Bradbury's 'Pillar Of Fire.'" There are performances on June 11, 18 and 25 at 8pm at the Hudson Theatre.

Board members may use promo code rayboard at http://www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/2496 for complimentary tickets.

This is my love letter to the author who saved my childhood, performed with my boyhood copy of "S Is For Space" tucked in my pocket. I hope you enjoy.

What an excellent offer, Bill. If I lived in LA, I would certainly take advantage of it.

I was in Florida last weekend and even tried to get a layover in LA so I could attend Saturday night, but no luck. I'd love to see it some day.

I don't post here very often, but I just wanted to sign in and give a heartfelt thank you to the mighty John King Tarpinian for coming out to my event at LA Central Library on Monday bearing incredible gifts. Thank you, John. You are a man of honor and friendship. It's no wonder Ray loved you so much. I will send you a return present.

Yrs,

Sam Weller

ps-I will have a blog post up about my LA trip tomorrow on www.listentotheechoes.com. And if you aren't following me on twitter, please join in! Lots of Bradbury every day.

Today is July 20th:

Here is what Ray was doing on this day in 1969:

What were you doing? I was fifteen, my parents were so engrossed in the moon landing that they forgot to pick me up at the beach. I watched the landing on a 9” portable TV with others on the beach.

I honor the moon landing by eating a Moon Pie every July 20th.
