Edgar Rice Burroughs was one of Ray Bradbury's literary heroes as a youngster. Burroughs' stories in fact inspired Ray to become a writer. I am resurrecting this thread to post the link below, which will take you to a letter written by Mr. Burroughs to 14-year-old Forrest J Ackerman, who would only a few years later become one of Ray's best friends. Apparently, one of Mr. Ackerman's teachers had disparaged Mr. Burroughs' books, and Forry wrote a fan letter to Mr. Burroughs mentioning it.
