I received an e-mail from SymphonySpace in New York City, advising that all of its on-stage programming through June 30, 2020 has been suspended. This would include the Ray Bradbury Centennial Celebration, which had been scheduled to take place at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in NYC on May 20, 2020. If any re-scheduling information becomes available, I will try to pass it along.

The Midnight Special is a radio show that airs in the Chicago area from 9 pm to midnight each Saturday evening on 98.7 FM. This Saturday night, August 22, 2020, the show will celebrate Ray Bradbury in honor of his 100th birthday. To quote from the show's Facebook page: "We'll go to Mars, to Green Town (a.k.a. Waukegan, Ill.) and feel what it's like to burn at 451 degrees Fahrenheit. Works both warm and chilling Saturday from 9PM-midnight at 98.7 FM, at WFMT.com or on our WFMT mobile app." For more information, just click on the link below:

This evening, at 7 pm CDT, the Woodridge, Illinois Public Library will present an on-line program, "Ray Bradbury: Waukegan's Influence on A Visionary Science Fiction Author". Historian Ty Rohrer will host a virtual presentation that discusses Waukegan’s influence on a young Ray Bradbury. Rohrer, director of the Waukegan History Museum in Bradbury’s hometown, will illustrate this free Zoom lecture with photographs selected from the Historical Society’s collection. The event is free but registration is required. For further information, click on the link below:

As noted in several of the postings above, SymphonySpace in New York City had been scheduled to hold a celebration of Ray Bradbury in May of 2020, in honor of the the 100th anniversary of his birth. The event was to be hosted by author Neil Gaiman. Unfortunately, because of the COVID pandemic, the event was cancelled. It has now been re-scheduled for November 1, 2023 (better late than never!), and a live-streaming option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
