Nicolas Cage is living proof that, as the Bradbury story says, "Nothing Changes."

I'm friends with Jack Mord, who discovered this photograph and became "Douglas" to Cage's "Mr. Koberman." He's certainly reveling in his 15 minutes of fame!

(Thank you for the bridge that haunts my imagination, btw.)

Another Bradburyesque story:

"The Ugly Chickens" by Howard Waldrop

In contrast to Ray's stories making me cry, this one is such a soul-sickening ache that it is beyond crying, that one can't cry.

Along Asimov's descriptions of SF stories being (1) "If only..." (2) "What if?" and (3) "If this goes on...."

Isn't SF meant to warn people off their path of destruction to life? Too late for the "chickens", but if only people would listen....

Best to close your eyes for this one, and let the sound waft over you from a distance. See if you don't form mental images of iron deer and cupolas...

I once played this very video to Ray on my iPhone. He (of course) wept. I might have done.

In a museum once I requested, and heard it played on a wax cylinder. At another museum at a festival I requested, and heard it played live.
